Terracotta Restaurant, 25 Highcross Street, Leicester, LE1 4PF
When Mr Wan decided to have the oak plank floor at his restaurant repaired and refurbished he contacted the Capital Floors Maintenance Team to visit and advise.
Much of the floor was blackened from many years of staining and polishing. Other heavily trodden areas by the bar and around the tables were worn through to the bare wood.
Several areas had suffered water damage and old repairs were evident.
During February 2020 Capital Floors undertook the repair and refurbishment of the Terracotta Restaurant floor. Once again working within strict time constraints, to cause the minimum disruption to the restaurant bookings. Our operatives uplifted the damaged planks, and checked the under structure thoroughly before fitting the new Atkinson & Kirby Ltd 89mm unfinished Prime Oak boards.
The entire area was then sanded back, removing all traces of stain and polish to reveal the traditional oak colouring and natural beauty of the grain. Further passes were made with our specialized sanding equipment, to achieve a fine finish ready for the lacquering.
We chose to apply 1 coat of Junckers Prelak primer along with 2 coats of Junckers HP Commercial – a water based lacquer which gives a clear Silk Matt finish and superb durability for flooring subjected to heavy commercial traffic.
Capital Floors Maintenance have provided recommendations for cleaning products and the day to day care of the floor. We will provide ongoing support by contacting Mr Wan annually to arrange inspections with a view to carrying out Deep Cleaning & Sealing, repairs etc. in the future.
